who we are£º

All of us have personal experiences of living in villages and being employed in cities. We fully understand the relationship between the efforts and the rewards, the hardships that our elderly fellows and relatives have gone through, as well as our responsibility to return them rewards. We are willing to make all efforts throughout our lives to achieve our ideals, whenever, the past or the coming days of hardships. £©

Our mission£º

In the spring of 2003, Culture and Communication Center for Facilitators (CCCF), a Chinese grass-roots labor organization, was established in Beijing.

CCCF's mission is to transform workers from the helped to the helper, and to realize their right and self-development through activities like capacity building, poverty alleviation efforts in community, policy advocacy in order to promote urbanization and harmonious society in China.

CCCF is working on providing new services and advocating policies through non-governmental channels.

Our vision:

We believe that the workers are a major force contributing to China's social development and they are entitled to equality of treatment. We are acting as a facilitator in workers' development in China under the vision that ¡®Paying United Efforts to Facilitate; Helping People Help Themselves'.

Our action£º

Formulate experimental programs in the search of effective social services benefiting Chinese workers:

During the weekends, activities are arranged to increase capacity of migrant workers, which have included legal protection, occupational health, psychological health, entertaining performance and literature appreciation and so on.

Visits by performance troops: CCCF has assisted migrant workers in setting up their performance troops and developing entertaining shows covering topics like law, health, career development. The performance troops visit construction sites, communities regularly with the shows. In addition to that, volunteers with CCCF have visited migrant worker communities, dormitories of migrant women workers to deliver family education for children of migrant workers and peer education.

Consultancy: Migrant workers are confused with by the experience in big cities, CCCF provides migrant workers consultancy on phone and in person. The supports range from safety, crisis intervention, labor right protection, psychological health, employment strategy, family, relationship and etc.

Right protection: Specialists and lawyers are invited by CCCF on regular basis to provide consultancy to migrant workers on right protection in order to improve the self-protection ability of the migrant workers. CCCF arranges legal aid, or gets involved in fact finding, lawsuit and litigation when their rights are damaged severely or they are in crisis.

Cultivating volunteers: CCCF pairs up volunteers from cities and migrant worker communities to set up hobby groups related to law, health, literature, and entertainment, which benefit migrant workers. During the process, volunteers practice their leadership skills. In October, 2004 CCCF established ¡®volunteers network of disaster management', searching for a model of grass root involvement in disaster management.

Policy Advocacy: voicing opinions on social policy reform

Research: CCCF carries out researches on migrant workers from a non-government prospective, aiming at revealing the gap between the governmental policy and the reality, and the needs and need assessment of underprivileged migrant workers. Chronologically the researches include Research on the Survival and Needs of Migrant Workers during The SARS Period, research on the Occupational Safety and Health of Migrant Workers in Pearl River Delta and Three Gorges, Research on Basic Survival and Development of Migrant Workers in Beijing, Guangdong and Tsingdao , and etc.

"CCCF library": Migrant workers have long been referred t as farmers, farmer-turned-workers, and migrant population by the mainstream media. They have been considered an unfriendly group by outsiders, and a study object by scholars who are keen on statistics and analysis. As the true picture of the migrant workers remains distant, the gap between migrant workers and city residents are widened.

CCCF published "CCCF library" to portrait the life of migrant workers, voicing their needs, enlightening migrant workers with true life stories of their peers and promoting the communication and bond between the migrant workers and mainstream literals.

Seminars: Basing on the research findings, CCCF hosted national seminars involving government, migrant workers, scholars, NGOs and mass media to share their experience on providing services to migrant workers and policy reform, experiment a mechanism for dialogue and cooperation of all parties, and continuously improve public policy and services concerning migrant workers.
